Filmed in Naples, Florida during the stay-at-home order issued in March / April 2020 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic
This student film was scripted, produced and filmed in Naples, Florida during the coronavirus lockdown in spring, 2020. This short film explores the journey of one family during the stay-at-home order and the gradual toll toward insanity it causes. The film uses a bare-bones cast and implements varying techniques to show the steady pace of isolation as the main character inches toward madness.
The film has been entered into several festivals in the student category, and will be judged later this year. The film was also done while on actual lockdown during the pandemic and needed a re-write for theme and actors.
The director's cut is featured above and has a running time of 12 minutes.

DIRECTOR Kat Sokolich
I started my film journey my sophomore of high school in the year 2016. Making my first feature filmed called ‘Sleep With One Eye Open’ my love for cinema increased. I started to write screenplays for all different types of films, both shorts and features. As high school was approaching an end, I decided to enroll within a film school within Eckerd College, where I plan to graduate with a major in Film Studies and a minor in Entrepreneurship. Through my first semester of college, I was exposed to many different types of production. I made many experimental films, which sparked my new short film ‘Social Distancing,’ in which I did pre-production, production, and post production all through my spring semester. My goal is to expand my business and create my own production company under the name ‘Katastrophic Films’ where I can hire many crew workers and become a successful director! Thank you for all the support throughout the years and for the next few years to come!
